Daily Departures

Day 1
Depart London on your Iberia day flights to San José via Madrid where upon arrival you will be met and taken to your hotel for a stay of two nights.

Day 2
Enjoy a half day excursion on the Rain Forest Aerial Tram, a unique ecotourism and research facility which will take you on a fascinating trip through the rain forest canopy. Home to two-thirds of all rainforest species, the canopy is a place of tremendous beauty and extraordinary biological diversity (Breakfast or Lunch is included).

Day 3
Depart for a 3-day/2-night trip to the Tortuguero National Park staying at the Mawamba Lodge on full board basis. Drive through the protected area of Braulio Carrillo National Park until boarding a comfortable boat to start travelling the Tortuguero Canals.

Upon arrival at the lodge, enjoy a refreshing cocktail followed by lunch. In the afternoon visit the museum, the beach and the small picturesque town of Tortuguero. Dinner at the lodge.

Day 4
Enjoy nature at its best as you undertake a journey through the canals for birdwatching and as you walk on the nature trails around the lodge.

Day 5
At the agreed time transfer to Arenal for a stay of two nights.

On the way to Arenal's moonlike landscape, pass through the towns of Laguna and Tapezco where you will see a large variety of bromeliads, orchids and heliconias. Continue through the agricultural area of San Carlos and swim in the Tabacón hot springs that descend from the volcano. The active Arenal volcano periodically erupts, rumbling as it sends clouds of smoke and ash into the sky. Weather permitting, you will be able to witness a night eruption with its spectacular colours.

Day 6
Enjoy a full day excursion to Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge, a humid biological area considered to be one of the richest for biological diversity in Costa Rica. Here you can find a great variety of endemic and migratory birds in addition to monkeys, iguanas, sloths, turtles and caimans.

Day 7
At the agreed time overland transfer (approximately 4½ hours) to Manuel Antonio for a stay of four nights.

Days 8-10
At leisure to enjoy the beautiful beaches. A half day excursion to the Manuel Antonio National Park with its enchanting white sand beaches and the tropical forest alive with wildlife such as monkeys and iguanas or a half day horseback riding tour are included.

Day 11
At the agreed time you will be taken back to San José on time for your outbound flights with Iberia back to London via Madrid.

Day 12
Arrive in London.
