Tuesday Departures ex Guatemala City

Day 1
Upon arrival in Guatemala City, transfer to the Hotel Camino Real (Superior) for a stay of two nights.

Day 2
Enjoy a half day tour of the city including a visit to the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology as well as to either the Ixchel Museum of Indian dress, a private museum whose main purpose is to collect, preserve and study native Guatemalan customs and textiles, or the Popol-Vuh Museum which houses a valuable collection of pre-Hispanic art.

Day 3
Early morning transfer to the airport on time for your flight to Flores. Upon arrival drive to the Tikal National Park for a full day tour (picnic lunch included) that includes the most important monuments of the impressive Mayan ruins. See the Main Acropolis and Pyramid IV, the tallest pre-Columbian structure in the Americas. In the afternoon, transfer to the Hotel Camino Real Tikal (Superior) for a stay of one night.

Day 4
Morning at leisure at the hotel which is located on the shores of Lake Petén Itzá before transferring to Flores airport in the afternoon for your flight back to Guatemala City. Upon arrival you will be met and taken to Antigua Guatemala for a stay of two nights at the Casa Santo Domingo (Superior), an old monastery that has been beautifully converted into a hotel.

Day 5
Enjoy a half day tour of Antigua, the former capital of Guatemala and a Spanish Colonial gem that has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will witness the charm of the town with its centuries old churches, convents and plazas. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 6
Continue the tour driving along the Pan-American highway to Chichicastenango, a famous meeting point for the Indians of the Guatemalan Highlands who gather to sell their produce and traditional handicrafts. This very colourful market will offer an excellent opportunity to purchase the craft products for which Guatemala is renowned, particularly the brightly coloured woven items. In the afternoon, continue the journey to lake Atitlán for an overnight stay at the Hotel Atitlán.

Day 7
Enjoy a boat ride on scenic Lake Atitlán and visit the community of Santiago Atitlán where you will have the opportunity to learn of the ancestral Tzutuhil culture of its inhabitants. Later return to Guatemala City and transfer to the Hotel Camino Real for a stay of one night.

Day 8
Transfer to the ariport for your outbound flight.
