Day 1
Depart London flying with Iberia via Madrid to Lima
where upon arrival you will be met and taken to the Hotel El
Olivar (Superior) for a stay of one night.
Day 2 - Arequipa

Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Arequipa,
located at the foot of the El Misti Volcano. Arrival and transfer
to the Hotel Posada del Inca (Tourist/Superior) for a stay of one
night. Afternoon tour of the city including the Santa Catalina
Convent, built in the 16th century, the Plaza de Armas, La
Compañía Cloisters and the suburbs of Cayma and Yanahuara, with
magnificent views (weather permitting) of El Misti Volcano.
Day 3 - Colca Canyon
Early departure for a scenic and rewarding trip to the
Colca Canyon with stops en route at various small villages.
Arrive in Chivay and overnight at the Casa Andina Colca Lodge
(Tourist) on full board.
Day 4
Early departure to the 'Cruz del Condor' to admire the
canyon at one of its deepest points and to try and spot condors.
After lunch transfer back to Arequipa for a stay of one night at
the Hotel Posada del Inca.
Day 5 - Cuzco
Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to
Cuzco. Upon arrival you will be met and taken to the Hotel Casa
Andina Koricancha (Tourist/Superior) for a stay of two nights.
Cuzco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, abounds with fine
examples of Inca history and architecture as well as evidence of
a rich colonial heritage. In the afternoon visit the city's
highlights and the Sacsayhuamán and Tambo Machay ruins.
Day 6 - Sacred Valley

Full day excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas visiting the
colourful Pisaq market and the magnificent Fortress of
Ollantaytambo. Lunch included.
Day 7 - Machu Picchu
Morning transfer to the station for the train ride
(Vistadome Class) through the Urubamba Valley to the Lost City of
the Incas, Machu Picchu. After a bus transfer, arrive at the
ruins amidst their incredible mountain setting and visit this
famed Inca citadel. Overnight at the Hotel Hatuchay Tower
(Tourist).
Day 8
Morning free to appreciate the ruins at sunrise
(includes 2nd entrance to ruins) or to hike up the Huayna Picchu
trail. Return to Cuzco in the afternoon and transfer to your
hotel for a stay of one night.
Day 9 - Lake Titicaca
Early morning transfer to the station for a fascinating
and scenic bus or train (Backpackers Class) journey to Puno (on
the shores of Lake Titicaca) passing high into the Peruvian
Altiplano. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to the
Hotel Taykipala (Tourist) for a stay of one night.
Day 10
Full day transfer by bus and hydrofoil to La Paz
visiting en route the Island of the Sun where you will learn of
its central role in the beliefs of the local people and the Iñak
Uyu Temple on Moon Island. Continue with a visit to the floating
Islands of the Urus Iruitos, and the Andean Eco-Village, an
expression of Andean culture created with the participation of
the local community. Lunch is included. Arrive in La Paz and
transfer to the Hotel Radisson Plaza (Superior) for a stay of two
nights.
Day 11
Half day city tour including the Cathedral, the
Government Palace, the San Francisco Church and the Moon Valley.
Rest of the day at leisure to explore the city's many bustling
Indian markets and craft shops.
Day 12 - Arica/Putre
(Chile)
At the agreed time transfer to the airport on time for
your flight to Arica. Depart to the Lluta oasis with the
opportunity of observing geoglyphs from the Tiwanaku culture and
visit an area of petroglyphs. Visit the ancient pre-Hispanic
settlement of Poconchile with its 17th century church before
continuing through the desert to the Pukara (Fortress) de
Copaquilla. Continue to Putre, a pre-Colombian settlement that
still maintains its traditions, for two nights at the Hosteria
Qantati (Tourist).
Day 13 - Suriri Salt Flat
Depart to the Suriri Salt Flat located at 4,300 metres
above sea level. Visit the Las Vicuñas National Reserve where
the Vicuña is a protected species and which is a breeding ground
for three species of flamingoes. Arrive at the stone-built towns
of Ancuta, Guallatiri and Viluvio where the Aymara people live
from alpaca and llama breeding and then continue amongst high
snow capped peaks such as the permanently smoking Guallatiri
Volcano. There will be possibilities en route to see rheas known
as 'suri' in Aymara hence the name of Suriri (place of suris).
Day 14 - Chungará Lake
Morning departure starting with a visit to Parinacota,
one of the oldest ceremonial Aymara villages in the area. Then
continue to the highest lake in the world, Chungará (4,570
metres above sea level) in the Lauca National Park. In the
afternoon transfer back to Arica travelling through the Lluta
Valley and passing important archaeological sites such as Tambo
Inca of Zapahuira, Pukara of Copaquilla as well as petroglyphs
and geoglyphs. Overnight at the Hotel Azapa Inn (Tourist).
Day 15 - Santiago
At the agreed time transfer to the airport on time for your
flight to Santiago where you will be met and taken to the Hotel
Galerías (Superior) for a stay of two nights.
Day 16
Enjoy a city tour of Santiago. Rest of the day at leisure for
optional excursions.
Day 17
At the agreed time transfer to the airport for your flights back
to London via Madrid.
Day 18
Arrive in London.
