The Amazon Experience
A journey to Brazil's Amazon region will you an experience of nature never to be forgotten. The Amazon River and its tributaries comprise the world's largest river system and the Amazon basin houses the world's largest rainforest, an intricate system of countless species of plants, animals and insects. A journey to the region will be a challenging and fascinating experience that will introduce you to the voluptuous beauty and innate wisdom of the forest. Based at one of the various lodges set within the jungle you will have a chance to trek through the forest in the company of experienced naturalist guides, to explore some of the Amazon's many tributaries and to gain an appreciation of the beauty and vast natural wealth of the area.
Amazon
Ecopark
Located in the midst of lush jungle, less than 1
hour by boat from Manaus, the Amazon Ecopark Lodge is a tourist,
scientific and education complex founded in 1991. The lodge has
an educational and research centre open to all those interested
in discovering the rainforest and its wonders. Air-conditioned
bungalows with private facilities are built in harmony with
nature providing all the comforts of home in a most exotic
setting. The Ecopark has 60 guest rooms all with en-suite
facilities, air conditioning and hot showers as well; as 2
restaurants. The lodge is known for its unique and pioneering
course of survival in the rainforest: bilingual guides with ample
knowledge of the area will teach you how and where to find edible
fruits and potable water, to practice first aid, to build a
shelter and much more. (The Jungle Survival course is only
available for groups/please enquire for further details and
prices).


4 day/3 night package
| Day 1 | Pick-up from the airport (approx. 13:30 hrs) and transfer by boat to the Amazon Ecopark Lodge for a stay of three nights. Visit to Monkey Jungle and alligator spotting tour. (Dinner) |
| Day 2 | Morning jungle hike and afternoon visit to a Caboclo's (native's) house. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) |
| Day 3 | Full day excursion to the Meeting of the Waters and fishing tour. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) |
| Day 4 | At the agreed time transfer back to Manaus (arrival at approx. 12:30). (Breakfast) |
Amazon Village
Located 30 Kms from Manaus (approx. 2½ hours by boat),
on the banks of the Puraquequara Lake, the Amazon Village offers
visitors a unique perspective of the natural and cultural wonders
of the Amazon. The village has 45 guestrooms housed in
wooden bungalows built amongst trees. Rooms are simple but
comfortable and are equipped with twin beds, a ceiling fan and
private en-suite facilities. They all have a private veranda with
hammock and rainforest views. Tours range in number of days and
include activities such as jungle hikes, canoe trips, visits to
local indigenous groups and alligator spotting all accompanied by
bilingual (English/Portuguese) guides. Please note that the lodge
uses alternative energy sources and therefore guestrooms do not
have electricity 24 hours a day. The lights in the rooms are
limited to the evening hours and there is no hot water available.
There are also no power outlets (eg 110V/220V) available.
The Village provides guests with candles and kerosene lamps, and
the kitchen and service areas are supplied with electricity
continuously.


4 day/3 night package
| Day 1 | Pick-up at Manaus airport or any hotel in Manaus (at approx. 14:00 hrs) for a quick visit of the famous 'Teatro Amazonas' (ticket not included-approx. US$6). Then continue by boat to the lodge passing the 'Meeting of the Waters'. After dinner enjoy an alligator spotting tour. (Dinner) |
| Day 2 | After breakfast enjoy a jungle trek followed in the afternoon by a Reconnaissance Tour of the area. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) |
| Day 3 | Fishing trip and visit to a Caboclo's (native's) house. Afternoon at leisure for optional activities. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) |
| Day 4 | After breakfast check-out and return to Manaus (arrive at approx. 11:00). (Breakfast) |
Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge
The Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge is located 110 Kms
north-west of Manaus (approximately 3 hours), across from the
world's largest river archipelago and is the perfect place to
explore the wonders of the Amazon basin. Built on suspended
wooden structures, its 16 cottages offer a combination of
wildlifes simplicity and comfortable accommodation.
Adorned with artworks of regional craftsmanship, every room
provides air conditioning, box spring mattress beds, hot and cold
shower, mini-fridge and a private deck. At the restaurant, you
will find a blend of Amazonian flavours and international
cuisine, which can be savoured with a cocktail of exotic fruits.
Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge also offers a swimming pool with a view
of the surrounding landscape, a belvedere for sightseeing, and
elegant Amazonian watercraft.


4 day/3 night package

| Day 2 | Jungle hike. Visit to the pink dolphins feeding spot and regional craft shops in Novo Airao. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) |
| Day 3 | Sunrise tour and bird-watching in canoes. Piranha fishing and visit to the Tiririca's Community. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) |
| Day 4 | Regional canoe rowing through the
region's creeks and flooded forest (*). Transfer back to
Manaus. Sunrise tour and return to Manaus (arrive approx
14:00 hours). (Breakfast, Lunch-depending on transfer

Ariau Jungle Tower
Lodge
The Ariau Jungle Tower Lodge is a unique resort
built in the treetop canopy of the Amazon. Located at the
junction of the Ariau river and the Rio Negro, 60 Kms from
Manaus, it provides an unique opportunity to observe and
photograph the forest and wildlife from a different perspective.
The lodge has 276 rooms and 12 suites all with private facilities
and air conditioning. Activities from the lodge include jungle
trekking, canoeing on the Negro River, visits to local indigenous
communities and swimming with pink dolphins. When not
participating in the tours guests can enjoy the lodge's
facilities such as its swimming pool, bars and its two 134-ft
observation towers.

Tiwa Amazon Eco-Resort
The Tiwa Amazonas Eco-Resort is located
approximately 10 Kms from Manaus, on the banks of the Rio Negro
(approximately 40 minutes by boat). It is built around a
beautiful natural lake that is surrounded by tropical rainforest.
The resort offers 52 double houses built on stilts at the edge of
the lake tastefully decorated with work by local artisans. All
rooms have en-suite facilities and offer air-conditioning. Guests
can enjoy the resort's swimming pool or opt for sports such as
volleyball, tennis and mini-golf. Some tours options include
jungle hiking, bird-watching and piranha fishing. Guests can also
take canoe rides and visit local villages.


4 day/3 night package
